GovCIO is currently seeking a Chief Enterprise Architect to lead enterprise-level design, integration, and implementation of complex, multi-vendor IT and cybersecurity systems in support of U.S. Government and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) initiatives. This senior engineering role requires strategic oversight across network, systems, and cybersecurity domains, with a strong focus on interoperability, innovation, and mission success. This position is a Remote Position and includes on-site presence and international travel depending on project requirements.
The Chief Enterprise Architect is the technical authority across enterprise-level network and cybersecurity architectures supporting modernization, integration, and lifecycle management for U.S. and partner nation systems. This role leads multi-disciplinary engineering teams in designing, configuring, and deploying secure, scalable solutions across data centers, NOCs, SOCs, and fielded international environments. The Chief Enterprise Engineer drives enterprise-level strategies by embedding best practices for cyber defense, networks, and systems modernization, as well as data assurance throughout all phases of solution development. Responsibilities include translating stakeholder and mission requirements into comprehensive, interoperable system designs; overseeing validation of traffic flows, firewall rules, and sensor placements; and ensuring optimal tuning of SIEM and threat detection tools. The incumbent architect and integrate cybersecurity solutions such as Gigamon, Trellix/FireEye/McAfee, DLP, and endpoint protection platforms, while supporting coordination with U.S. and foreign mission partners through all system deployment and sustainment phases. The role includes delivering executive briefings, supporting risk assessments, managing technical documentation and engineering baselines, and ensuring all activities align with DoD configuration and compliance standards. The position requires up to 40% international travel to partner nation locations in Europe, Latin America, Southeast Asia, and Africa.
Additional Responsibilities:
• Lead enterprise architecture reviews to ensure cybersecurity alignment with Zero Trust and DoD reference models.
• Establish and maintain enterprise-level engineering playbooks, SOPs, and lifecycle integration checklists.
• Advise contract and program leadership on technical staffing requirements, vendor interoperability risks, and acquisition strategies for large-scale deployments.
• Oversee technical readiness assessments and lead engineering reviews during Preliminary and Critical Design Reviews (PDR/CDR).
• Develop and present technical white papers and capability briefs to support future planning and innovation alignment with Combatant Command and mission partner objectives.
• Coordinate with cybersecurity compliance teams to ensure all engineered systems meet NIST, RMF, and international accreditation standards.
Required Skills and Experience
• High School diploma with 10+ years of technical leadership experience in enterprise systems engineering and cybersecurity integration.
Clearance Requirements
• Active SECRET or NATO SECRET Clearance required at time of application.
• Strong expertise in enterprise architecture, cross-domain cybersecurity design, and multi-vendor integrations.
• Proven experience in Enterprise Engineering Operations, preferably within military, NATO, or foreign defense environments.
• IAT Level II Certification (Security+ CE, CCNA Security, CySA+, CASP+, etc.) per DoD 8570.
• Cisco CCNP Security/SCORE or CCNP CyberOps/CBRCORE or equivalent enterprise-level certifications.
• Hands-on experience with SIEM platforms, cybersecurity sensors, traffic brokers (e.g., Gigamon), endpoint detection, and firewall/IDS configurations.
• Familiarity with network diagrams and modeling tools such as Visio, Lucidchart, or AutoCAD.
• Documented background in datacenter cabling, physical installation, and network validation procedures.
• Ability to travel internationally up to 40% to support system deployment and host-nation coordination.
Preferred Skills
• Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of relevant experience in cybersecurity, network engineering, or enterprise IT systems; or,
• Relevant Master's degree and 6+ years of relevant experience in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or Engineering (Preferred).
• Prior military service in Cyber, Communications, Signal, or related technical field (e.g., 25-series, 17-series MOS).
• Additional certifications such as JNCIS-SEC/JNCIP-SEC, PCNSA/PCNSE, GIAC/GSEC, GCP, MCSA, VMware, Cloud Security, or Linux are a plus.
• Experience supporting foreign military sales (FMS), Department of Defense (DoD) integration efforts, or NATO-led coalition projects.
