Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced ETL Developer to design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines that power our data infrastructure. This role is critical in ensuring data integrity, optimizing data flow, and supporting the business with actionable, reliable data insights. You will have hands-on experience with SQL Server, including performance tuning and database design. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve complex data challenges and implement innovative solutions that align with our enterprise data governance and compliance standards, including HIPAA.

 

This position will be a fully remote position located in the United States.

Responsibilities

This role is responsible for developing and maintaining efficient, scalable ETL pipelines to support the integration and transformation of data from diverse sources into target systems. It includes designing and optimizing SQL Server databases, writing complex T-SQL queries and stored procedures, and ensuring high performance, data accuracy, and maintainability. 

    • Support ongoing ETL operations and ensure secure, compliant administration of data systems in alignment with enterprise data governance.
    • Collaborate with internal teams to translate business needs into technical solutions and ETL requirements.
    • Adhere to organizational procedures, including source control, release/deployment, and change management protocols.
    • Conduct QA testing, troubleshooting, and validation to ensure pipeline accuracy and data integrity.
    • Identify, design, and implement process improvements, including automation and optimization for scalability and performance.
    • Assist IT teams in developing tracking tools for data usage, user activity, and SQL performance to inform product and process enhancements.
    • Perform root cause analysis for data issues and suggest actionable improvements.
    • Create and maintain thorough data documentation such as data dictionaries, ERDs, and data maps.
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements, including HIPAA.
    • Work closely with Executive and Product teams to support their data needs and resolve technical issues.
    • Partner with data analytics professionals to enhance functionality, governance, and user experience in our data systems.
    • Handle sensitive data, including Electronic Protected Health Information (PHI), with appropriate care and confidentiality.
    • Develop and maintain scalable and efficient ETL pipelines for extracting, transforming, and loading data from various sources into target systems.
    • Build and maintain SQL Server databases, including schema design, indexing strategies, and stored procedure development to support data processing and reporting needs.
    • Write and optimize complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions to ensure high performance, accuracy, and maintainability of database operations.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, with 5 - 8 years of experience. (or commensurate experience) 
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in relational databases and SQL querying.
  • 3+ years working in an Agile environment.
  • 3+ years of experience working in an Enterprise Data Warehouse environment.
  • Proficient with enterprise data integration tools (Azure Data Factory preferred).
  • Strong understanding of data warehouse architecture and cloud-based infrastructure.
  • Experience in performance tuning of SQL queries and ETL pipelines.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps and/or GitHub for version control, CI/CD pipeline automation, and release management
  • Solid understanding of ETL best practices.
  • Must be highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Able to thrive in both team and independent environments with minimal supervision.

Clearance Required: Ability to obtain and maintain a Suitability/Public Trust clearance.


Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience with healthcare data and familiarity with HIPAA compliance.
  • Familiarity with data governance frameworks and best practices.

Posted Pay Range

The posted pay range, if referenced, reflects the range expected for this position at the commencement of employment, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity. The total compensation package for this position may also include other compensation elements, to be discussed during the hiring process. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the GovCIO reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, GovCIO or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Posted Salary Range

USD $118,000.00 - USD $122,000.00 /Yr.
