Overview

GovCIO is seeking an energetic, motivated, and dedicated Intern Project Manager (PjM) with exceptional communication and writing skills to work alongside our Deployed Intelligence Communication Element (DICE) Project Management Team. The Intern PjM will help with one or more projects that a DICE PM is working on, allowing opportunities to gain exposure, and understanding of Project Management methodologies in a federal government environment. The ideal candidate will be on active duty within 180 days of their separation date and have their command’s approval.  This position will be located in Hampton, Va and will be a within the United States as a hybrid position.

Responsibilities

Creates integrated project plans for contract deliverables and new products in development projects. Manages a project team comprised of a multidisciplinary staff. Reviews, manages and controls status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports. Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives. Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with team members and line managers. Generally reports to a Program Manager.

  • Manages the direction of a project through the design, implementation, and testing in accordance with project objectives.
  • Defines requirements and plans project lifecycle deployment.
  • Supervises professional and technical support personnel performing in their regular disciplines.
  • Schedules tasks and coordinates with various team members to accomplish the results.
  • Manages the integration of vendor tasks and tracks and reviews vendor deliverables.
  • Ensures adherence to quality standards and reviews project deliverables.
  • Conducts project meetings and is responsible for project tracking, analysis and reporting.
  • Collaborate with team members to determine the best practices for project execution
  • Assist PMs with ensuring project requirements, standards, and documentation are followed
  • Assist PMs to ensure projects are in scope, on schedule, and within budget
  • Assist PMs to ensure adequate resources are assigned and aligned with core service delivery
  • Provide support to ensure compliance with all contractual commitments defined in the latest Technical Direction Letter (TDL)
  • Follow established procedures for submitting changes requests for network or systems changes
  • project documentation is accurate and up-to-date
  • Assist PMs with developing project briefings for senior military and civilian leaders
  • Eagerness to learn and take on new challenges in a dynamic environment
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas to improve project efficiency
  • Prepare meeting agendas, take notes, and follow-up on action items, as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

High School with 3 - 6 years (or commensurate experience)

Required Skills and Experience

  • Clearance Required: Active TS/SCI 
  • 3+ years of IT Project Management experience
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • 3+ years managing teams of six or more
  • Ability to host meetings with Microsoft Teams collaboration tools



Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Deployed Experience with DoD communications systems
  • Experience with DoD NIPR, SIPR, JWICS, DCGS or other DODIN Networks
  • A strong interest in project management as a career path
  • Self-motivated team player with an ability to effectively interact with individuals at all levels
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced dynamic environment
  • CAPM or PMP certified within 6 months of starting work

The posted pay range, if referenced, reflects the range expected for this position at the commencement of employment, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity.
