Overview

GovCIO is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Senior Internet of Things (IoT) Engineer to join our team in Doral, FL.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead and participate in the full lifecycle of IoT projects, from conceptualization and design to deployment and maintenance
  • Contribute to the development of IoT strategies and roadmaps, ensuring alignment with business objectives and technology trends
  • Lead the design and development of IoT solutions, including device connectivity, data acquisition, data processing, and cloud integration
  • Develop and maintain IoT architectures and frameworks, and select and integrate appropriate IoT hardware and software components
  • Design and implement data pipelines for IoT data ingestion, processing, and storage
  • Ensure the security and privacy of IoT data and manage and maintain IoT platforms and cloud services
  • Configure and optimize IoT devices and gateways, and monitor and analyze IoT data to identify trends and anomalies
  • Develop and implement automation scripts for IoT device management and develop and implement prototypes and proof-of-concept projects to evaluate new IoT technologies and solutions
  • Conduct feasibility studies and technical assessments and provide technical recommendations and guidance
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including Hardware Engineers, Software Developers, Data Scientists, and business stakeholders
  • Communicate technical concepts and solutions clearly and concisely
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies in the IoT domain
  • Provide direction and mentorship to junior staff

Qualifications

High School with 10+ years (or commensurate experience)

Required Skills and Experience

  • BA/BS in field necessary to assume Internet of Things (IoT) Engineer III duties and a minimum of 9 years of relevant Internet of Things (IoT) Engineer III experience.
  • High School and 4 years of additional experience or Associate's Degree and 2 years of additional experience may be exchanged in lieu of a required Bachelor's degree
  • A candidate holding a relevant Master’s degree may be granted 2 years’ experience credit for that extra education. A candidate holding a relevant PhD degree may be granted 4 years’ experience credit for that extra education.
  • Five years of position-specific relevant experience. Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field. Strong understanding of IoT architectures, protocols, and technologies (e.g., MQTT, CoAP, LoRaWAN, Bluetooth). Experience with IoT platforms and cloud services (e.g., AWS IoT, Azure IoT Hub, Google Cloud IoT Core). Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, C++) and scripting languages. Experience with data processing and analytics tools. Knowledge of network security and data privacy principles. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Certified Internet of Things Practitioner (CIoTP), CompTIA Network+, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), CompTIA Security+, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), AWS Certified IoT Specialty, and Microsoft Certified Azure IoT Developer–Specialty.
  • The Internet of Things (IoT) Engineer III is a highly skilled and experienced Engineer with a deep understanding of IoT technologies, platforms, and protocols
  • Clearance Required: Secret


Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Master’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field. More than 5 years of experience in IoT engineering or a related field. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C/C++, Java, or JavaScript. Experience with edge computing and machine learning. Experience with industrial IoT applications. Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations. Certified IoT Security Practitioner (CIoTSP), IoT Architect Certification, Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP), and certifications related to specific IoT applications (e.g., healthcare, manufacturing).
  • Experience at a DoD Combatant Command (e.g., SOUTHCOM, NORTHCOM, CENTCOM, CYBERCOM, INDOPACOM, EUCOM, AFRICOM, STRATCOM, TRANSCOM, SOCOM, SPACECOM) or a component is desired.

Posted Pay Range

The posted pay range, if referenced, reflects the range expected for this position at the commencement of employment, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity. The total compensation package for this position may also include other compensation elements, to be discussed during the hiring process. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the GovCIO reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, GovCIO or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Posted Salary Range

USD $150,000.00 - USD $173,000.00 /Yr.
