Overview

GovCIO is currently hiring for a Technical Writer to support of program level and project documention requirements. This position will be located in Fayetteville, North Carolina and will be onsite within the United States position. 

Responsibilities

Writes, rewrites and/or edits technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences. Acquires subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals. Oversees preparation of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts. Conducts quality review of materials.

• Develop technical documentation related to a variety of projects in the IT environment.
• Research, outline, write, and edit content, working closely with various departments to understand project requirements.
• Develop and assist with the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), policies, procedures, and other quality documentation.
• Conduct side-by-side sessions with employees in all departments to capture/document procedures and develop content for training and reference materials.
• Review and revise existing documentation to ensure it meets current standards and incorporates the latest updates.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, and project leads to gather information, and ensure accurate, up-to-date documentation.
• Ensure that documentation complies with corporate PMO guidelines, industry standards, safety guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
• Work with internal teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of the product and the documentation requirements.
• Conduct regular reviews and updates of documentation to ensure consistency, accuracy, and alignment with product updates.
• Research, outline, write, and edit content, working closely with various departments to understand project requirements.
• Gather information from subject-matter experts and develop, organize, and write procedure manuals, technical specifications, and process documentation.
• Research, create, and maintain information templates that adhere to organizational standards.
• Upload documentation to Knowledge Base and maintain templates.
• Manage multiple documentation projects simultaneously, adhering to deadlines and quality standards.
• Continuously improve documentation processes based on feedback and emerging best practices.
• Utilize version control techniques to manage documentation changes.
• Develop tutorials, guides, and other educational materials, user manuals, custom installation guides, and technology release notes.
• Participate in planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives to stay aligned with the processes.
• Create, revise, and maintain placard labels.

Qualifications

Bachelor's with 0 - 2 years (or commensurate experience)

Required Skills and Experience

• BS/BA degree (commensurate experience and Fundamentals of Technical Writing certificate may be considered in lieu of degree).
• Ability to attain a Top-Secret clearance.
• Minimum 2-years technical writing experience.
• Valid and Current U.S. Driver's License.
• Strong oral, interpersonal, and written communication skills required.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts in a clear and concise manner.
• Strong understanding of documentation principles and practices.
• Experience with SharePoint, proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat.
• Experience with development of technical documentation.
• Experience with development of user documentation.
• Close attention to detail.
• Willingness to learn and understand unfamiliar technologies, and to articulate their uses.
• Ability to prioritize and switch between projects.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Ability to coordinate projects involving input from multiple participants.
• Fundamentals Of Technical Writing certificate.

Posted Pay Range

The posted pay range, if referenced, reflects the range expected for this position at the commencement of employment, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity. The total compensation package for this position may also include other compensation elements, to be discussed during the hiring process. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the GovCIO reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, GovCIO or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Posted Salary Range

USD $55,000.00 - USD $60,000.00 /Yr.
