Overview

GovCIO is currently hiring for a Technical Writer Senior to produce policy and technical documentation in support of a Zero-Trust Architecture Implementation project. This position is located at Langley AFB, VA and requires on-site presence.

Responsibilities

Will be responsible for creating and maintaining documents codifying policies, simplify complex technical information and document Zero-Trust activities for both internal usage and for customers. Work products include but are not limited to policies, distribution and implementation plans, standard operating procedures, and contract deliverables.

Other responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

 

  • Translates complex data into user-friendly text for print and electronic publications, such as technical journals, user and training manuals, government proposals, websites, and podcasts.
  • Gathers information through research, statistical reports, and interviews with technical staff.
  • Attends customer meetings and produces concise, relevant notes of key decisions, action items, and major updates
  • Develops cataloging systems, and maintains records, files, electronic media and archiving of information for publications.
  • Recommends use of layouts, graphics, drawings, tables, exhibits, illustrations, charts, or storyboards to amplify or clarify publications objectives.

Qualifications

High School with 9+ years (or commensurate experience)

Required Skills and Experience

    • High School with 3 - 6 years (or commensurate experience)
    • Required Skills and Experience:
    • Advanced Word and Adobe Acrobat Skills
    • Information Gathering: Researches products, services, technologies, or concepts by studying samples, conducting research, interviews subject matter experts (SMEs), and collaborates with various departments like engineering, development, and product marketing; produces notes after gathering information or attending meetings
    • Content Development: Writes and edits technical documents, user guides, reports, FAQs, and online help content.
    • Simplification & Clarity: Translates complex technical information into clear, concise, and easy-to-understand language for a specific target audience.
    • Visual Communication: Incorporates diagrams, screenshots, illustrations, and other visuals to enhance understanding.
    • Editing & Proofreading: Reviews and refines documentation for accuracy, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style.
    • Standardization and Compliance: Ensures consistency in terminology, style, and formatting across platforms and media; ensures compliance with government publication and other templates
    • Collaboration: Works effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineers, developers, designers, and project managers.
    • User Feedback & Improvement: Collects user feedback to update and improves content and user experience.

Posted Pay Range

The posted pay range, if referenced, reflects the range expected for this position at the commencement of employment, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity. The total compensation package for this position may also include other compensation elements, to be discussed during the hiring process. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the GovCIO reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, GovCIO or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Posted Salary Range

USD $110,000.00 - USD $120,000.00 /Yr.
