GovCIO is seeking a Clinical Informatics Director (MD/DO) to provide senior clinical leadership across complex healthcare technology initiatives. This role serves as a critical bridge between clinical operations and digital health solutions, ensuring that technology implementations are aligned with real-world care delivery, provider workflows, and patient outcomes.
The Clinical Informatics Director will partner with cross-functional teams to guide strategy, inform system design, and drive adoption of innovative health IT solutions across large-scale enterprise environments. This position plays a key role in shaping how data, technology, and clinical practice come together to improve care delivery. This is a fully remote position.
Provide clinical informatics leadership across complex healthcare and digital health initiatives
Serve as a trusted advisor to technical and operational teams, ensuring alignment between clinical workflows and technology solutions
Guide the design, implementation, and optimization of clinical systems, decision support tools, and data-driven care models
Collaborate with engineering, product, and program teams to translate clinical requirements into scalable technical solutions
Support integration and optimization of electronic health record systems and related clinical platforms
Lead efforts to improve provider experience, care coordination, and patient outcomes through informatics-driven approaches
Contribute to strategic planning, solution development, and execution of health IT modernization initiatives
Provide subject matter expertise in clinical data standards, interoperability, and healthcare information exchange
Engage with stakeholders to drive adoption, change management, and continuous improvement across programs
Required Skills and Experience
MD or DO required
Board Certification in Clinical Informatics (ABPM or equivalent) required
Minimum 10+ years of experience (or commensurate experience).
8+ years experience in clinical informatics leadership roles
Demonstrated experience working at the intersection of clinical care, health IT, and data-driven decision making
Deep understanding of clinical workflows, healthcare systems, and informatics principles
Experience supporting or working within large healthcare systems or federal healthcare environments preferred
Familiarity with EHR platforms such as VistA, CPRS, or Oracle Health (Cerner) preferred
Experience collaborating with technical teams in Agile or product-driven environments preferred
Clearance Required: Ability to obtain and maintain a Suitability/Public Trust Clearance.
